“Often, a Patient’s Plight is a Hospital’s Delight.”

About Indian Healthcare Industry:

There are many hospitals, whose sole focus is only making money. In order to meet their target, they compromise with the ethics of health care, such as, keeping the patients on ventilator when it's not required, wrong diagnosis for pseudo surgeries, recommending irrelevant tests etc to facilitate inflated billing. Similarly, the diagnostic centres today are running on a commission partnership with the doctors wherein the commission share of the doctor and the centre is pre -decided.

No different are the corporate hospitals which used to inculcate over commercialized billing system. As per the government rules, government and semi-government employees are given a certain percentage of relief on the medical expenses which has played a dominant role in the paradigm shift in the approach of the corporate hospitals towards the patients.

These healthcare facilitators tend to overlook EWS, CGHS, ECHS patients whereas medical tourism patients, cash patient, corporate and TPA patients are given higher priority as they bring more monetary benefits for the hospitals compared to the former category.

This biased approach of diagnostic centre and healthcare facilitators has been hollowing the roots of the medical sector, slowly.

Moreover, the customer feedback form that is demanded by the hospitals, post treatment is never made public, which leads to an increased hospital monopoly in the market segment.
